TeamBookTwo… to Timbuktu!

1-1-2011

But wait… there’s more! (1-01-2011 Afternoon)

As it was quite late when I typed that, I didn’t have a chance to upload it… then the day after way New Year’s Eve, so I didn’t have time to do anything… so here’s the next update as well! » Continue Reading

So, finally an update since Spain! Things haven’t been quiet, I can assure you! I’m typing this from our apartment in Marrakesh, Morocco… that’s right, apartment – not hotel.

Puncture Repair (Video)

What happens when you drive very worn Winter tyres through the Sahara Desert?

Well, actually – not much! You get some pretty impressive grip… Sadly, that grip also included a discarded screw… which ended up in our tyre! Last year we had a puncture in the High Atlas mountains… so this year we are going prepared! Have a look at the following video to see just how you can repair a tyre puncture with what is essentially a corkscrew and a bit of gum…

Happy New Year

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone reading this post, email (or whatever means you use to get these messages) a Happy New Year on behalf of the entire Team Book Two.

It’s the final countdown!

Last post of the day, promised! (In fact, probably last post for a while!)

My what a day…
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ELISA, WHO WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC TODAY!
Did you know that MB dealerships are closed in the afternoon in Spain for a siesta? They only reopen at 17:00 (until 19:00)…

The 3 Wheeled Car…

Howdy!
(apologies to those subscribed for the multiple emails today!)
How far can a car with one wheel missing go?
So… eventually decided to look into it… jacked the car up and rattled the wheel, there was a bit of play {guessing 2mm-ish in being able to move the wheel horizontally away from the car}. Rotating the wheel had a “rough spot” which scraped on each turn (this was after the caliper was off, so no rubbing with the brake pads possible) (just found the parenthesis key on this keyboard!)

Should we? …

A quick update from bandaged finger…

Got the car running again this morning… no noises now… after a few crunches everything went quiet! So unless the wheel is about to fall off or seize, looks like we may be able to keep going! Albeit at a slower speed…

Still can’t find anyone to swap the rubber of the tyres though!

Sigh… fuel filter next!

Live Update from the Field!

26 Dec 2010
Definitely an interesting day… I woke up at 3am, got ready and drove to Andrea & Tim’s place. By the time we loaded, fuelled and got to Folkestone it was past 7am. Luckily, our train was cancelled, so we weren’t late for the checkin! At the terminal, we met Dave and Olly from team dirty Dancers.

(pardon the brevity of this, I’m typing with bandages are my fingers!)
